Recent glass projects in Leonia, NJ

A small, leafy town wedged between the Palisades and Route 46, Leonia's housing is mostly pre-war colonials and 1920s craftsman-style cottages — the kind of homes where every bathroom remodel involves a tight, slightly irregular opening and a tile install that doesn't quite match the original.

Quick answer: Over forty-plus years installing custom glass in Leonia, our crew has built case-study experience across the town's most common housing types. This post tours recent Leonia highlights — shower enclosures, custom mirrors, glass railings and other glass work — with a sense of what we see here and what to expect when you reach out. For broader town details, see the Leonia service-area page.

At a glance

Leonia's character is small-town New Jersey at its most authentic: pre-war colonials, Tudor-revival cottages, and a tight street grid that hasn't been redrawn since the 1920s. The bathroom-remodel cycle here is strong because so many of the homes still have their original primary baths — pink tile, a single light fixture, a tub-shower combo that's seen six decades of use. When homeowners finally pull the trigger on an update, frameless glass is almost always part of it. Our crew has gotten good at templating around plaster walls that are no longer plumb and tile floors that slope slightly toward century-old drains.

Shower-door highlights

Frameless shower enclosures are our highest-volume category in Leonia. Three recent residential installs that show the range:

Frameless replacement in a 1924 colonial off Park Avenue

A 1924 center-hall colonial on a quiet block near Park Avenue had its primary bath gutted for the first time since the original install. The opening was 38" wide — a genuinely tight footprint — and the wall on the long side was visibly out of plumb. We templated to the actual conditions and fabricated an inline frameless door with no return panel, 3/8" low-iron glass, satin brass hardware. Two-week fab, half-day install.

Tub-to-walk-in conversion on Glenwood Avenue

A craftsman cottage on Glenwood Avenue converted its original cast-iron tub into a curbless walk-in shower. The new opening was 60" wide with a fixed glass panel on one end and a 28" pivot door. 3/8" clear glass, matte-black hinges, hydrophobic coating included. The pivot hinge let us avoid the swing arc that would have clipped the new vanity.

Steam enclosure in an updated Tudor near Sylvan Park

A 1929 Tudor near Sylvan Park got a full primary-bath remodel with a built-in steam unit. We installed a sealed enclosure with a fixed wall panel, a frameless door, and a transom — all in 3/8" tempered. The roof tilt of the upstairs ceiling complicated the header geometry; we fabricated a custom-mitered transom to match.

Mirror highlights

Custom mirrors — vanity, full-wall, entry-hall, home-gym — are the second-most-common project we install in Leonia. A few recent examples:

  • A single oversized vanity mirror in a small primary bath off Broad Avenue — 44" wide, 30" tall, polished edges, anchored flush so the wall reads as continuous mirror behind the sconces.
  • A pair of matching framed pivot mirrors in a renovated guest bath off Christie Heights Street — round, tilting, brushed-nickel pivot points sized to the wall.

Other glass work

Beyond showers and mirrors, Leonia keeps us busy with railings, backsplashes, tabletops and accent work:

  • A back-painted glass backsplash in a renovated kitchen near Fort Lee Road — a single panel of soft white running the full length of a 9-foot range wall, eliminating grout lines entirely.
  • Two interior glass-railing panels along a renovated stair landing in a 1930s colonial — top-mounted on a wood handrail, 3/8" tempered, stainless standoffs.

Why Leonia chooses AGM

Leonia is about 14 minutes from our Lodi showroom via Route 46 and Fort Lee Road — among the shorter drives in our service area. Forty-plus years of installing in this region means our crew has worked on enough Leonia pre-war homes to know what to expect: out-of-plumb walls, tile floors that slope subtly toward old drains, plaster that needs care during anchor work. We bring a template box and patience, and we don't try to force a stock-sized enclosure into a hand-built opening.
