Quick answer: Over the past several years, AGM has installed custom frameless shower doors, vanity mirrors, glass railings and back-painted glass throughout Hawthorne, NJ. Below is a tour of recent project highlights — what we built, where, and how to start your own. From our Midland Park showroom on Greenwood Avenue, we're about 11 minutes up Goffle Road from Hawthorne.
Hawthorne at a Glance for Glass Projects
Hawthorne is one of the denser, older Passaic County boroughs we work in — modest lot sizes, classic 1920s through 1950s colonials, ranches and Capes through the Lafayette Avenue area and the neighborhoods around Goffle Brook Park, and a smaller share of newer construction. The housing stock is consistent enough that we see common patterns: original 1925–1955 master baths with framed tub-shower combos, older framed shower doors that have failed at the seals, vanities that need new mirrors after a refresh.
The most common Hawthorne glass jobs are frameless shower-door replacements (often the first thing a homeowner does after closing on an older home), polished-edge vanity mirrors and the occasional back-painted glass backsplash. Distance from Midland Park is about 11 minutes south down Goffle Road — close enough to schedule fast measures.
Recent Shower-Door Highlights in Hawthorne
Replacement frameless enclosures are our most-requested service in Hawthorne. Here are three recent installs.
Shower-Door Replacement, Lafayette Avenue Area
A 1948 Cape on a side street off Lafayette Avenue had a tired 1990s framed shower door that had begun to leak at the seals. The homeowners didn't want to renovate the bath — just replace the door. We measured, returned with a 3/8" clear frameless inline panel and single inswing door in brushed nickel, and installed in one visit. The existing tile and shower pan stayed; only the door system changed. This is one of our most common Hawthorne calls: keep the bathroom, upgrade the door.
Mid-Century Master Bath Refresh, Goffle Brook Area
A 1952 ranch near Goffle Brook Park had a full master-bath refresh — new tile, new fixtures, new vanity, and a frameless replacement for the original aluminum-framed enclosure. We built a 3/8" clear inline panel with a single inswing door in polished chrome to match the new plumbing fixtures. The shower bay was an unusual 32" wide (typical for a 1950s build), so the door width and hardware were sized accordingly.
Compact Townhouse Walk-In Shower
A townhouse near Diamond Bridge Avenue had a primary-bath remodel converting a tub-shower to a walk-in shower. We built a 3/8" clear frameless curbless enclosure with a fixed return panel and an inswing door in matte black, sized to fit the 36" x 60" footprint. The conversion required raising the shower drain location, so timing with the plumber was important — we did the measure after the plumbing was set but before the tile started.

Custom mirrors are our second most-requested category in Hawthorne — vanity mirrors after a bath refresh, the occasional finished-basement gym mirror, and full-length mirrors for bedrooms.
Bath-Refresh Vanity Mirror, Lafayette Area
A 1930s colonial off Lafayette Avenue had a vanity refresh where the old framed mirror needed to go. We fabricated a 48" x 36" polished-edge mirror on hidden Z-clips with a 1/2" reveal at the wall — and added a small fixed shelf above for the homeowner's apothecary jars. The polished-edge frameless look reads much cleaner than a framed mirror against the home's original molding.
Bedroom Full-Length Mirror
A renovated colonial near Goffle Brook called for a wall-mounted full-length mirror in the primary bedroom — 24" x 70". We polished all four edges and installed on hidden mounting blocks so it sits about 1/2" off the wall, no visible hardware.

Other Glass Work in Hawthorne
One recent Hawthorne project worth flagging: a back-painted glass kitchen backsplash in a renovated 1940s colonial — soft warm white, 3/8" tempered, full-height behind the range. Back-painted glass is a great fit for older Hawthorne kitchens because it requires no grout lines and reads as a clean, modern element against more traditional cabinetry. We've also done a few glass shelves for bathrooms and the occasional glass tabletop. For railings, our glass railings page covers code, cost and design.
Why Hawthorne Homeowners Choose AGM
Three reasons most Hawthorne projects end up with us: proximity (Midland Park is about 11 minutes north up Goffle Road), 40+ years of local installations (we've worked in homes from the 1910s through brand-new construction across the borough), and in-house fabrication (we cut and finish glass in our own shop, install with our own crew, and never subcontract). Free in-home measures are standard for every Hawthorne project. Most quotes are returned within one business day.
