Clifton is Passaic County's largest city and our highest-volume town outside the Lodi-immediate radius. The housing stock is a working library of mid-century North Jersey: 1930s capes, 1940s colonials, 1950s split-levels, and a deep bench of two-family homes in the Athenia and Botany Village neighborhoods. Most of the bathrooms in these homes were untouched until the renovation wave of the past decade — which is why we get more shower-door replacement calls from Clifton than from almost any other single municipality.
At a glance
- Drive from our Lodi showroom: ~6 minutes via Route 46 or Main Avenue
- County: Passaic, NJ
- Most common project: frameless replacements in 1930s–1950s capes and colonials
- Growing category: painted-glass kitchen backsplashes and steam enclosures in higher-end Allwood remodels
- Typical timeline: 2–3 weeks from quote to install for residential; faster for time-sensitive commercial work
Shower-door highlights
Shower enclosures are our highest-volume residential category in Clifton, and the variety of housing here means we see a wide spread of styles and footprints. Recent examples:
Frameless 3/8″ inline door in an Allwood cape
A 1940s Allwood cape had a 60″ primary-bath tub-shower with the original framed slider. We removed it, repaired the wall substrate, and installed a 3/8″ frameless inline door with a 12″ buttress panel, brushed nickel hardware, and the hydrophobic coating. The room felt twice as bright after the install — same square footage, just less visual clutter.
Athenia two-family matching enclosures
A two-family in Athenia had near-identical bathrooms on both floors. We did matching 3/8″ frameless sliding bypass doors in both units on a single workday. The owner appreciated the streamlined quote; tenants got the upgrade with minimal disruption.
Steam enclosure in a renovated Botany Village colonial
A primary-bath gut renovation in a 1920s Botany Village colonial wanted a steam-capable shower. We fabricated 3/8″ clear glass that sealed to the new 9-foot ceiling, with a transom vent, matte black hardware, and an upgraded gasket package. Three-week fabrication, single-day install.
Walk-in shower retrofit in a Lakeview cape
A Lakeview-neighborhood cape converted its corner tub into a walk-in shower at 36″ × 48″. We installed an inline door with a 16″ return, all 3/8″ glass, polished chrome hardware.
Mirror highlights
Custom mirrors are an underused category — most homeowners don't realize the upgrade until they see one done at the right size, with the right edge treatment. Two recent Clifton examples:
Beveled double-vanity mirrors in an Allwood colonial
Two matching 30″ × 42″ beveled mirrors over a double-sink vanity, 1″ polished bevel, anchored above the existing sconces. The pair reads as a single composition rather than two separate mirrors.
Home-gym wall mirror in a Botany Village basement
Twelve feet of full-height mirror in a finished basement gym, J-channel anchored, polished edges, no frame. We brought the panels in through the side entry.
Other glass work
Beyond showers and mirrors, we see steady volume in Clifton across the rest of our services:
- Painted-glass kitchen backsplash in an Allwood remodel — single 8-foot panel in warm white behind the range.
- Storefront replacement for a Main Avenue retail tenant after vehicle damage — full tempered panel and re-anchored mullion in one day.
- Glass railing on a renovated split-level open stair — 3/8″ tempered panels, top-mounted on a wood handrail.
- Fireplace surround in a Lakeview great-room — three back-painted-glass panels in charcoal.
Why Clifton chooses AGM
Clifton is six minutes from our Lodi shop, and we've installed in literally thousands of Clifton homes over four decades. We know how a 1940s Allwood substrate behaves before we cut the glass — and that's what keeps Clifton homeowners coming back for the bath, then the kitchen, then the basement. We field-measure, fabricate, and install with our own in-house crew — no subcontractors, no warranty pass-the-buck — and we've been doing it across Passaic County and North Jersey for over forty years.
